Working with me
I want you to understand what is happening and feel comfortable asking questions about your move. My approach is personal and practical, with guidance shaped around the support you need.
Getting started
Your first enquiry is a chance to explain your plans and establish the information needed for an initial estimate. You do not need to know every legal term before getting in touch.
Share your plans
An initial conversation gives you the chance to explain your plans. Share the property details, the type of transaction and any dates or questions you would like to discuss.
Consider your estimate
Once the relevant transaction details have been gathered, an initial estimate of fees can be prepared. You can consider the quote and ask questions before deciding to proceed.
Complete the paperwork
If you accept the quote, the initial paperwork can be emailed or posted to you. Your legal matter will be handled through Burgh Thorpe Solicitors with my personal involvement.
Understanding your priorities
Before the legal work gets underway, it helps to know more than the property address. You may be buying for the first time, coordinating a family move or arranging a sale alongside another purchase.
Tell me about your circumstances and any dates you have been given. If you have a new-build reservation or a deadline in writing, share those details so I can understand the arrangements.
You can also say which parts of the process concern you most. This helps me offer guidance that reflects your situation and the support you need.
Keeping you involved as things progress
I personally handle your matter and remain closely involved throughout the transaction. I’ll explain the next steps, keep you updated and let you know when information or a decision is needed from you.
An update should help you understand the position. That might mean explaining a document, discussing a question raised about the property or clarifying what needs to happen before the matter can move forward.
Room for your questions
Moving home involves unfamiliar paperwork, even if you have bought or sold before. If you are unsure about something you have been asked to read, sign or provide, please ask.
I use straightforward language and take the time to explain how the legal work relates to your circumstances. The conveyancing FAQs offer a useful starting point for common questions, while advice on your own matter will reflect the property and documents involved.
A practical approach to progress
I take a proactive approach and work with the other people involved to help your transaction progress. Some steps depend on information from lenders, other conveyancers, search providers or people elsewhere in a chain.
I’ll explain what is outstanding and what it means for your next steps. The timing depends on the circumstances of the matter, so a suggested moving date should not be treated as confirmed.
If your plans change or you receive new information, let me know. Keeping the details up to date helps me consider what this means for your transaction.
How you can help along the way
Complete the initial paperwork as fully as you can and raise anything you are unsure about. If a requested detail is not available, explain that rather than guessing.
Tell me about any linked sale or purchase and let me know if your name, contact details or plans change. When documents or decisions are needed, I’ll explain the next step.
If you need more time or help understanding a request, say so. Keeping the conversation open is just as important as keeping the paperwork moving.
Start with your plans
Tell me about the property and the support you are looking for. Your enquiry is the starting point for a conversation about your transaction and an initial estimate of fees.
If you are selling and buying, mention both properties. You can still get in touch if some details are not yet known.
